Hydrogen is Coming, Keep Your Eyes Open For the Toyota Mirai!

You have long been a fan of the Toyota Prius, with its tremendous mileage per gallon-- about 51mpg city, as estimated by the EPA for 2015. But still, you can't help but think, you are still using gasoline, that fossil fuel that fills the air with about 1,000 million metric tons of carbon dioxide annually.

What if you didn't have to be tied to fossil fuels at all? What if you could have a fuel that is 100% renewable, and that creates no exhaust fumes except for clean water vapor?

The Toyota Mirai will run on pure, clean hydrogen fuel.

Through a process called electrolysis, water molecules are split up into hydrogen gas, and oxygen with an electric current. The electricity used for this process can come from wind or solar power, making it fossil-fuel free.

Then, inside the hydrogen fuel cell of the Mirai, hydrogen recombines with oxygen from the air, forming water and generating an electric current to power the car.

The Mirai will be available to select owners starting this October. If you'd prefer to sit it out and wait for hydrogen infrastructure to catch up, then please browse our current new inventory, or improve your current car's efficiency with a visit to our service center.
